Whoa! That's a great title, and a wonderful image to illustrate. Love the sharpness, pose, eye contact, BG -- pretty much everything. I do feel it's a little tight on the right, but not by much. One thought is that the light BG leaks out a bit and could benefit from a thin black border to define the boundaries.

    Amy:

Love the windblown plumage, sharpness and exposure. Contrast perhaps a sliver high, but presents nicely.
The eye looks a bit unnatural to me.

Nice breeding colors on the lores.

    Cheers

Hi Ron, you are right about the thin border. It does need it with this bg being white! Adding a little border on the right is not a problem... I did agonize over it and preferred the longer frame at the time. Decisions, decisions! Thanks.

Hi Randy. I lightened the eye and eccentuated the eye's highlight as there was barely one there even when it was zoomed in all the way. Perhaps that is what. Do you think it was better off left as it was? Do you think the eye was lightened too much? Thanks.

Amy, what a nice pose and one that calls for a tight composition. loved the plumage. very nice exposure and details.

I might back off a bit from sharpening of some areas..near the throat....such plumage tends to look oversharpened even with a mild USM round.

Thank you, Kaustabh. I see it, too, as I am also sensitive to oversharpening and can spot it without effort. However, it seems that a lot of folks here prefer it this way.

Wow! Gotta love that windblown plumage, just a little more room from the right & top would be nice :)

Terrific shot, Amy. the wind-blown plumage is spectacular, and the pose is great. Good comments above, esp. a slivver of room on the right. (And I love the title.)

Love the pose, the attitude and the wind swept look :)

I kinda like the crop as it puts more attention on the birds head / expression, plus everything is being wind blown to the left.

Georgeous pose you captured here. Love the shyness the Egret is displaying. The flared out plumage is a plus too.

Cool pose and great blowing plumage and breeding colors. I'm glad you got a good clear one eye.

Now that I see what you achieved with this capture, I wish I had joined you that cloudy day. Hind sight is always 20/20 of course. You really did well with this one, and your subject just pops right off of the screen. The flowing mane, pose and breeding colors really make this one.
