Back in June, my wife saw this and another dog standing in the middle of our local highway, looking very lost. She went on to her appointment and on the way home, they were still there. A couple of hours later, we had to run some errands in town and they were still there. On our way home, they were still there, doing their best to get hit by a car. We couldn't stand it anymore so we stopped, called to them and happily got into our car. We're pretty sure they were dumped there which is something that happens much too often out in the countryside where we live. They weren't in the best condition so we took them home, fed them, gave them flea treatments and got both of them fixed and then went about trying to find them homes. Some dog rescue places showed interest at first but never returned our calls. Well, it took a few months but we finally found them a home.......with us! We sure are suckers!
I'm a sucker too. We have 3 inside cats and about 7 outside cats, all ferals that were born in our barn. That's wonderful that you gave them a loving home. I love the photo, she looks like a very happy dog!
Ken, thanks for rescuing these dogs. My wife is an animal artist & she donates 10% of her receipts to dog rescue groups.
Here is her web site. http://sandramerwin.com/
Fantastic story, good for you and your wife for being such good people. I'm a sucker too. My friend called me to come and see a stray dog and her puppies that she was fostering for a shelter. I said, Ok, but I'm not taking a puppy. (I already have a 100 lb rescue). So, true to my word, I did not bring home a puppy, I brought home the mother. :) Btw- Love your image and this dog, she looks truly happy.
Good story, Ken, and glad you could rescue them. What a great capture, she looks soooo happy, and I'm sure those dogs will bring you lots of joy and fun.
I knew there was a reason I liked you besides just your photography skills. She is a beauty! I bet she can stand her own against those horses of yours!
