Old Woman Bay at Daybreak

Another one from my Lake Superior trip. Most of the mornings were like this with very little color in the sky due to lots of storm clouds moving through. I was glad to have my hat and gloves with me on this morning as it was quite chilly. This is one of my favorite spots in Lake Superior Provincial Park. The forested cliff/hill in this photo rises more than 400 hundred feet above Lake Superior.

10/10 by me. Great use of the grad filter and polarizer, kind of obviates the need for HDR processing to shoot it right in the first place. I see what appears to be a black line where water meets clouds. I don't think it's the far shore. Any idea what causes it?

I very much like the diagonal juxtiposition of the tree stump and hill. Perfect shutter speed to get the rushing water at the shore but still have nice detail further out in the water. Clouds are dynamic. I would try cropping into the bright mass of the clouds for a alternative pano look for the image.

Robert went before me: clouds are dinamic,also dramatic. Like the perfect juxtiposition of the tree and the hill, balancing the composition.

Declan, it is a very beautiful park. I have been up there 3 times so far. I am quite drawn in by the rugged landscape of the surrounding area. Glad it brings back memories for you.

One of your best landscapes for me to date, Andrew!
I love the composition and colours and mood here. I would have liked a tad more at the bottom, therefore I concur with Robert to shave some off the top for better 'balance' .
