Captured this elk Saturday at RMNP. Chose a close crop to try and catch some of the saliva dripping out of the mouth. Thanks for looking.

Hi Dan, I was hoping you were going to post this image.

Great depth, clarity and detail and the eye has a lovely crispness to it, adding to the Elk roaring. The colours work well too, adding to the time of day & season.

    Nicely done Dan.

Very nice colors and light. I like the bit of sharp FG at the bottom as well.
Not sure about cutting off the rack, although for the portrait I can understand why you did it.
It is so nice, I just want a bit more.

Hi Dan, lovely light, calling posture and detail. I particularly like the textures in the image on the antlers, coat and mouth area.

Dan, I really like the light in this, which in turn has brought out the colours and detail. The sharpness is spot on.

I always love seeing the full rack but fully understand why you cut it off here, Dan. Super light, details and behaviour captured!

Great portrait of this guy bugling. You captured the intensity of his efforts very well with the drooling and the eye staring but not really seeing. I agree with Morkel that seeing the full rack would be great but then that would reduce the impact of the face.

Where did you find the elk gathered? I'm thinking of heading up there.

Thanks so much. I always like the mad look they get in their eyes!

Great light, detail and pose. I think I would prefer the full rack over the saliva but I wonder if you could get both with a horizontal orientation.

Terrific job in capture and post, Dan, but Rachel's idea is captivating. Do you have the content in the frame to repost with that idea?

Thanks again. Unfortunately, do not have a horizontal of this behavior.
