    Default Waterfall

I'm not sure if this is "OOTB" enough or not...worked a bit with water blurs yesterday, shooting a waterfall at the local Botanical. Shot with the 100-400@100mm, f/16@1/4. After processing the RAW file in LR, I did some local adjustments with Viveza on one layer, added some Tonal Contrast with NIK on another layer, and then used Topaz->Adjust/Color Pop on a third layer. Lowered the opacity on the last two layers substantially (semi-grunge? ) ..this is the result. Looking forward to comments and suggestions.

John, I like the way the image appears to have three main sections. Killer colors on the rock. John, I took this into PS and took some off the left and top and felt the image had a bit more balance. It brought your bright area of the water fall more into a power point position. But either way I like it alot.

Hi John, I like the image a lot. Good OOTB thinking with the different comp and something unique for a waterfall image. Love the rock and foliage and the soft, silky look to the water. There are a couple of reddish-brown areas behind the "veil" of water that I would be tempted to evict. Nicely done!

Thank you for your comments and suggestions...

Denise, I'll take a look at that when I return...leaving this morning for three days of outdoor leadership and team-building with 36 Eighth Class boys...I'm counting on a good amount of fun and not a lot of sleep.

Kerry, I've played with it both ways...I may evict the brighter of the two yet...I've got two or three more images of the falls that I want to post later...and about 1/2 dozen images in my mind for when I go back!

Take care...see you in a few days.

Hi John, great OOTB thinking for the comp. Love how it turned out and the details are great. Agree on a little off the left. Have a blast!

John, I love it just the way it is. It has so many different facets to it that I find intriguing. The vertical of the waterfall, the textures and colors of the rocks, the foliage and the horizontal rock - really neat image. Hope you have fun
