Stuart...
Was this a big crop? Maybe it's my eyes since I've been staring at the monitor culling images but it looks like the detail had broken down somewhat?
The perch really detracts IMHO on this one. It looks as if it's a square wooden post yet it looks all rusty?
With the perch being at such an acute angle to everything else, I would have leveled this center of eye to center of eye...and it may well be that his head really was sort of cocked relative to you.
I agree with Jim on the levelling, and on the lack of detail, though the feet and eyes look sharp -- feathers just don't look fully detailed. I happen to like the perch, and I love the eye contact.
not a big crop that was the way his head was angled
Great shot. Love the mottled BG with the various splashes of color, makes it more interesting. Great detail on the head.

I love everything here, great. bummer about the perch![]()

Stuart,
Every bit of this image is superb .
One this we all wish here for sure (The Perch) .. Wish it was more wild.
But i know that is what you really cant do much with so well done and great image again.
Superb bird, pose and light to go along with the gorgeous bg. Nice of him to come out of the burrow and perch for you. I like the comp as is a lot, but would consider moving him to the right just a tad.
Superb image.
