A big welcome to BPN. You will learn so much and "meet" very amazing and talented people. Lucky you to see this shrike so close up.
The BG is nice and clean and the look back pose is good, The problem is that you need more room all around the bird-never cut the tail off! Also, the perch is not the prettiest but it does allow for a good look at his feet.
The main issue is that the image quality is not the best. Is this a big crop?
Please include all the shooting info like ISO and aperture and amount of crop.

I agree with Gail's comments - You will hear people go on about head angle and here you have a nice one. Bird is far too big in the frame and the perch is not the best. Nice background - When I got started It was all about the bird with little consideration as to the background - now I look at the background as much as the bird in front of me.
That's a lot of great info. I will work on all of those suggestions. It was not really a big crop, I just cropped it too much. I'll post the other ones I took of the same bird............then I'll learn which one is the better one. I never have any idea...........
A warmest welcome to BPN. It is a fine place to learn and grow as a nature photographer. Good points by Gail and Tom.
If you spend time looking at the images on BPN, you well start to develop a feel for what works and what doesn't. There are no hard and fast rules, but certainly many of the things you will hear discussed here can aid in your image creation and processing.
One very valuable aid is to start critiquing other folks images. I know that seems hard when you are starting, but to do that exercise really makes you look carefully at the images, and that will spill over to your own images.
Don't forget about the Eager To Learn forum. Great info and teaching there, with a slightly more relaxed style, great for getting your feet wet if sometimes things overwhelming on the Avian Forum.

I became a BPN member recently after shooting birds for awhile, and I figured I need to look at bird photos beyond what I usually see from other birders, who prefer tighter framing/cropping for ID purposes rather than composition sakes.
Anyway, love the head angle and catchlight in the eye. It's also good that you didn't blow out the whites. I think the framing is a bit too tight. Also it's a bit soft. I agree with all the comments above.
