Canon 7D Canon 100-400L IS @320mm, Tripod Head, shot taken from garden hide. Auto ISO 1000 -0.3. Tv Mode 1/2000 sec, f5.6
The auto ISO and TV mode were used due to continually changing light and the batteries died on the flash gun. I applied Topaz deNoise on the Raw Moderate setting to the whole image and I used an layer mask to sharpen, applying further noise reduction to the background. These flight shots are something of an on going project, I have tried using the 500mm lens and now I am coming in closer using a shorter focal length, I am even considering using the 180mm macro - just wish I had some light.

    Joanathan,

I really liked the image. Focus point seems good to me said its flight shot for this short speedsters.
I would patch that dark green spot on ULC.

HA can be better but i wouldnt complain a bit on that as i just loved this image as is.

Nice action here and I like the sharp head with a little motion blur on the wings.

Nicely done Jon, slight s/halo under bill and along throat but very nice indeed; very close and hard to execute

A head turn would have taken this straight to the winner's podium, but man, this awesome.
Sharp where body and feet, love the blur in the wings and very nice bg.
I'm sure you're going to get the one you're after soon.

Bummer about the HA (actually, overall body angle as it has just passed you), but still a nice flight image of this fella. Wings down pose looks good. I amgine it has just jumped off a branch or feeder?
