    Pete:

    A very cute picture but I am puzzled by the coloration of the mom. Our Mallard hens have a brown/tawny breast, no white. Is this a morph, or variant specific to the UK?

    I believe it is a "morph" We have many colour varients from white to almost black.

    These birds result from mixing of wild mallards with feral farm ducks. This one is definitely a mongrel.
