    Spoonbill

I just became BPN member #1000 ... so I am feeling "lucky" today.

Photographed a few weeks ago while on James Shadle's boat, during James' and Jim Neiger's BAA approved "Best of Florida" workshop.

Apologies to those who frown on excessive PS work (I decided to "enhance" the background with a slight blur). Attempt was to emphasize the sense of movement, and bringing the subject forward. What do you think?

Thank you for looking, and do appreciate all your tips for improvement & helpful comments.

Great light, pose and details. Maybe a little less saturation and some CW rotation. Congratulations on the #1000. :)

Nice image. I don't mind the PS work, it looks pretty natural too me. The pinks, I think, are way too hot especially on the legs.

You might zoom in on the eye an work the pupil with Artie's method to define it a little more.

Great action and detail, Brian. I agree with Axel about less saturation in the reds. I'd wish for more room in the frame as well. I like what you did with the background.

I know Artie says I'm far too kind, but I like this one just as it is... saturation, blur and all. Nice shot Brian!

I like the dynamic position of the wings and legs Brian - really emphasizes movement. A little more room around the spoonie and it would have been perfect.

I thank you all for taking the time to offer your suggestions for improvement.

I had deliberately added a few degrees of rotation, with the thought that it added more dynamics, to the action "running downhill" in a slight diagonal.

I did struggle with deciding how to crop, wanting to emphasize the movement ... but it kept looking "too centered" to me.

Hope this repost looks better ... with a more level horizon, and extra room around the bird, and also desaturated.

Again, thank you all for your help!

I like it much better this way. The rotation didn't bother me so much, but those hot pink legs did.
