Canon EOS ID Mk IV, 500mm f/4, 1.4x t.c., @700mm, f/5.6, 1/1600, ISO - 1000.
Saw this fellow fly by and just loved the light falling on him against the blue sky. So i tried a quick hand held image, as the shutters felt fine to me.

Ramesh, I agree, nice light. I like the light, the pose and looks sharp. I also like the sky color, a different blue. I might crop in closer if it is possible. TFS
Tom, I was also tempted to crop in closer but then i Had second thoughts. Will of course crop it closer if a majority asks for it.![]()

Ramesh, yes to nice light. very nice bird angle and excellent techs. I see some sharpening halos though.
Beautiful light. Sharp. Sweet wing position and sky color. When I saw this I said, 7D image! Guess that I cannot always tell the difference.
There is something funky going on with the head, possibly too much sharpening there.... Or poor image quality only there.... Did you do anything out of the ordinary there?

Ramesh,
You have great IQ, Heron Position and framing.
I agree on sharpness halos.
Somehow i felt the color of heron is not usually what we see. it's more on yellow here in image than grey.
I made a lil correction of color hope you like it.
No Artie, now that you have pointed it out, I think i have got my mask a little wrong there.

Mital I did Not touch the natural colour of the heron as it was lit up by the evening sun completely.

Thanks ramesh,
I felt the Heron having yellow cast instead the warm light of sun. but might be wrong in this case..
I like the pose, colours, and light, but I agree there is something going on with the IQ (even on the repost). Perhaps some jpg compression from resizing? Did you have trouble getting this under 200kB?
Love the light and the upward wing pose. I love the yellow glow from the sun and would not change it at all,
Gail
It is very hard to describe and obviously not definitive.I would have to say that the tiny pixels of the 7D often give the images--the birds actually--what I see as a somewhat smooth look....

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, Artie
Wonderful picture, Ramesh. I really like the Light and the gorgeous wing.
