    Default GBH catching sum rays

This was taken from my Yak as I floaten up to him. Nikon 300s 300mm AFS 4.0 hand held ISO 800 2000 @f8. Post cropped from left and right ajusted levels and curves, some sharping. Artie I did buy your digital basic, I have not had a chance to read all of it yet But I sure it will be very helpful.

Hi Randy, Cool pose I have seen them do this one or two times before. Overall the image is a little bright on my monitor and I am having a hard time see his eye was he awake when you made the image.

Thanks Randy. Get studying. Brightness seems the same and OK in both.... Something fishy however is going on with that eye... It looks as if it is partly open and its appearance make the image look unsharp. Nice sunbathing pose.

The second image I adjusted in with level some and added a little contast. would it help if I darken just the eye out .If i zoom in on the eye it looks like it is open with the protective membrain covering it. I'm reading right now, good info here Artie well worth the 20 bucks.

    Thanks

    Randy:

Love the pose, reflection. Would consider removing the red spot, and do a little more eye work. Keep reading digital basics. If you incorporate all that info into your images, they will be looking great!

    Cheers

Great sunning pose and low angle. Yes, I would darken the pupil to make the eye appear sharper. I'd also be tempted to crop away a tiny amount at bottom to eliminate the thin dark band skimming the bottom edge of the frame. Love the fruiting plant in upper left corner.

YAW and thank you. As far as the nictitating membrane, bummer and bad luck. Do you have another image of the bird with its eye fully open?

If you have one with the eyes open it is easy to import it. It is unusual for a bird in this posture to have the membrane down. (Not so when preening or fighting for obvious reasons.)

I found one image where the eyes are closed and I removed the red spot.
