If you've ever been on a beach when these birds are making noise, you'll know that they can drive you mad. This particular evening I embraced it and created a few images which I think express their character.

    Thanks for looking!

Hi Grace, Really like the pose and the light is very nice here also.

Well done. Great to see detail in the mouth. Nice soft light. Perhaps add a bit of black to the blacks and the middle tones in Selective Color for a bit more pop. What month? (This is a breeding plumage adult so I would guess some time in spring, maybe May or June?

Love that open mouth and nice soft light. I heard a black bellied plover call like a willet the other day and a willet seemed to think it was a willet as it hung around it for a while. Kinda funny.

Thanks everyone. Artie, nice subtle changes from your suggestion. When I put both side by side on my monitor, a def improvement. This bird was photographed on 7/23/11.

    Grace:

The talking pose makes it for me, plus soft light, sharp and well exposed. Repost an improvement. Good shooting angle.

    Cheers

Lovely behavior shot. As for the negative space, is it just a little more than needed?

Interesting observation Troy, and I think that it would work well with a bit off the top and right. If you keep the entire reflection, that effects how much you could crop and still keep it balanced, but I certainly think your idea is worth a try!

    Cheers

Thanks, Sid. Yes, Troy, your idea has merit. Thanks.
