Lovely image, Dan. Fantastic colors on this drake and a superb setting. Ofer's repost enhances this very nicely.
Not sure about the bird placement. I'd crop about and inch and a half from the bottom and have a pano or add that much to the top - probably just a personal pref thing.
Nice work!
Lovely image. I, too, would take some off the right and bottom. Ofer's repost is great. Gives it a real pop and glow.

The image rocks; the RP puts it over the top.

Beautiful image and beautiful repost by my pal Ofer. He did well opening up the dark areas of the face. Love the wake!

Ofer, would you be willing to give a summary of your processing adjustments? You sure made this already fine image by Dan sing. TIA.
Repost is wonderful indeed, doing real justice to what was initially a great shot to begin with. I too would be interested as Grace is, to know what your process was, Ofer.
Hi Melissa and Grace, trust me I am no expert when it comes to photoshop and my processing is very basic...
The first thing I have done in here is duplicated the layer then applied some levels, colour saturation, Shadow/Highlights and contrast adjustments. When everything but the whites looked good I've made a Layer Mask - 'reveal all' then used the brush tool to reverse the effect on the whites to bring it back to the original state. Then flattened the image, made sure it is saved as sRGB and that's it.
Unfortunately, although I do photography for a living, I am not crazy about photoshop so my knowledge is limited to the very minimum I need to know in order to survive....
There are endless resources on the web - Artie's Digital Basics, www.lynda.com and more.
Hope that helps...![]()

Thanks all for the comments and thanks to Ofer for taking the time to work on the photo.
As I said the other day, I need to work on my PP skills and thanks to people here like Ofer,
I learn stuff everyday here.
The key to getting these shots is laying in the gravel on the edge of the pond.
I also need elbow pads as two evenings in a row of laying on rocks and holding the lens
just above the water on splayed elbows has left me sore!
This pond which is in the middle of the city is surrounded by trees, thus the need for flash fill,
but also just has beautiful light and reflections, a real dream place to take duck photos.

Thanks for the tutorial Ofer. Clear and helpful.
I echo Grace on this, Ofer, thank you. I particularly like your technique of, on a new Layer, using the brush tool to reverse the effect on the whites.
You do great work on your "bare minimum" of skills. That's what I strive for, as i would much rather be shooting than working on the computer. But I have a ways to go on both ends...
YouriImage is so beautiful and the repost does pop more. It's not enough anymore to just get a good shot. I'm learning how important post processing is yet it's another whole world to learn and takes alot of time. I myself am wayyy behind but you all are helping me learn.
