    Default sandpiper

Hey guys, I am new to birds but I think this is a least sandpiper? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I only have a 70-200 (on a 7D) so this picture had to be heavily cropped.

    Comments and feedback welcome!

    Jinqyi,

I really like this one. The placements could be slightly adjusted. Of course, this is all subject stuff. Might move the subject to the right and get it out of the center. The reflection of the rock and bird makes the picture a bit busy. Let's see what others say, I could be wrong here. The light on the rock looks soft and golden. What time was it and please update with exposure settings so we can get a sense for the technical aspects. Thanks for posting and I love what you are trying to do here, very calm and serene setting.

    Thanks Jeff!

i was going to move the bird more to the right but there was a twig in the way and i have been lazy to clone it out

Shot at f5 1/2000 which was actually a bit underexposed, It was pretty early in the morning, probably around 7am.

Hi Jingyi, I really like the colors and saturation along with nice detail. A lower shooting angle would have made the reflection match the bird better. As captured the reflection is larger than the original. I think this one would be stronger as a vertical, cropped from both right and left and maybe a bit of canvas added to the bottom. Nice image, look forward to more.

    Hey Kerry,

wow I didn't even notice the reflection was bigger than the original, thanks for pointing it out to me. I was already at the lowest shooting angle possible to get this shot, but i do agree even lower would have been nicer. Will try a vertical crop sometime and see how it looks.

    Thanks!
