    Default Least Sandpiper

    1st post in this forum

    Location:

Taken at Ted & Pat Jones State park just north of St. Louis, MO.
Unable to get out of pickup due to the puddle being just off the road and it seemed using the vehicle as a blind was better than spooking the birds.

    Equipment:

Canon 500mm F4 IS with 1.4 teleconverter Canon MKIIN
    Apex bean bag
Chevy Crew Cab (as blind )

While the angle is not ideal, the light is great and really shows off the plumage.

I like the water ripple and the higher angle gave you a pretty good reflection. I am not loving the clump of mud and green algae and would be tempted to clone it out.
Another option would be to crop for the bottom and losing the imperfect reflection but keeping the wake and adding more room on top.
Did you increase saturation as I find the colors much more red than here in Nova Scotia.?

I would have liked to have been at a lower level but sometimes it isn't possible--
spooky birds and being right on the edge of the road
unfortunately, this was one of them so you work with what is available.

I checked the settings in the psd file and Hue/Saturation was bumped up 8 points but on the master 'channel'
there was not red channel 'boost'
Selective Color showed no red channel boost

Perhaps time of day (early morning of what became a gorgeous day)?

Thank you both for taking the time to look and comment

Thank Bill. I like to be short, down to the point.
I like shorebirds and yours is a nice one.
