Shot past winter. I dont know how I got this water color but I like it... is it because fill flash was used??

its the light that reflects from the water that give you that great blueish color. Whites look little hot on my screen. Nice profile image.

Beautiful bird Tom. Sid right on the too hot whites. I like the soft look of the light and color of the water which says "winter" up north to me. I am debating on recropping suggestions and at first was going to say take more off the top and bottom but the more I look at it the more I like look of the water. I feel you should revisit the crop and work to get something that balances the bird in the image better but maintains the soft look of the water. Nicely done.

I had to take a look at this one because I don't see hot whites at all. (Yes I see all blocks on the calibration strip clearly).

I measured the whites and the highest value I got was 253 in the red channel. The Blue and Green channels were well below. Since the red was significantly higher than the other two channels I lowered it a little with hue and saturation. The change is hardy noticed.

Another option would be channel mixing the Blue and Green with output to Red.

Edit: Oh, and I killed a dust bunny or other oof blob at about 10 O'clock from the head.
