Spent some time with the seals down at La Jolla last week. These guys are so much fun to watch - loved the expression on this one. Converted to B&W, sharpened, Topaz Adjust - Etching, Topaz detail to soften, then added warming photo filter. Posted some more images in the Wildlife forum.

Brendan, I like the soft contrast and the pose is off the charts! Nice work processing this. I might blend the white on the left just a teeny bit and evict the small dark spot on the right edge- but those are both very minor. Nice job!!

Brendan, I am puzzling over how you managed to get a picture of me on Monday morning... But seriously, this one is awesome for the pose, detail, and toning. Good points by Denise, but a super image as presented!

Brendan, the processing on this is off the charts...it has that exquisite feel of a finely detailed pencil sketch.. The pose is hilarious (can you scratch your head and rub your belly at the same time?)...the expression on the seal's face is priceless. Denise makes some good points about two minor adjustments, but this more than holds it own either way. Nicely done!

The thumbnail does not do justice to this image. Glad I opened it. Wonderful expression and pose! You brought out the details in a soft and effective manner. Nice work.

Awesome composition, Brendan. I love the pose and expression you have captured. The filtering is very effective... nice use of the warming filter. TFS.

Thanks very much Denise, Kerry, John, Anita & Indranil, much appreciated. Good suggestions, Denise, here's the repost:

    Kerry - too funny!

John - thanks, I was trying to shoot for a kind of pencil sketch look, and the processing did take some time, patience, & experimentation.

Almost looks like the seal is wondering what he did last night, been there, done that...cute photo and effects, well done Brendan
