    Default Incoming Wave Blur on Lake Superior

    Yikes! Today marks one year since becoming a member here at BPN. Time flies when you're having fun.

    Shot this one last week while up on Lake Superior, an incoming wave blur as it hits the beach near the rock in the sand. I shot a boat load of these until I captured a blur that I thought worked the best for the scene. Exposure time for this was half a second.

    Look forward to comments.

    Andrew, Great image. Love the water blur and the diagonal of the wave. Nice textures and you captured a real feeling of the flow of the wave. What's the circular thing? Is that an island of water?

    Hi Jay, I think the circular thing you are referring to is the rock in the sand (lower right corner)...correct me if I am wrong.

    Hi Andrew;

    Wonderful image...the texture and detail you've captured in the sand is in stark contrast to the fluid movement of the water over the top....strong diagonal lines draw your eye through the image...and the stone makes a good anchor point in the foreground. I like how the wave lines fan from almost parallel to either edge to the diagonals through the center....nicely seen!

    Hi Andrew, I love the diagonal composition here and all the texture and detail. I also like how the rock balances the dark area in the ULC. Very nicely done!

    Nice blur, Andrew, and a unique and interesting composition. Love the contrast of water and sand textures with the diagonal, and the blur has transformed the rock in an interesting way, draws curiosity. For a second it looked almost like a horseshoe crab imprint. Way to be creative and have fun. Congratulations on your one year anniversary on BPN!! Really have been enjoying your beautiful, creative images from the awesome countryside you have up there in Canada. Look forward to seeing more!

    Andrew, You've been a great addition to BPN but most especially OOTB! Time does fly!! Lots of detail in the water and sand. Did you use Topaz Adjust? I'd love to see this a little softer- maybe it's just the girl in me. I love the composition with rock and the water on the diagonal.Nice job!

    Hi Andrew, nice job with the wave - the blur works really well. As mentioned, nice balance to the composition. I might be tempted to blend in the horizontal tracks in the lower third.

    I like the various textures present in this image, as well as the translucent wave. Nice post processing work. I would like to see this more abstract. I experimented with cropping, as the ULC bothered me. Hope you don't mind.

    Thanks folks for the comments, much appreciated.

    Denise, I applied Tonal Contrast, but perhaps a little too much. I'll go back and back it off a touch.

    Anita, I like your crop. I will take a look at my other images and see if I have something similar to your crop.
