    Default Ovation

I treated myself to a new guitar a few weeks back. It has been screaming out to be photographed ever since so I gave in and came up with this. There were a few tweaks in levels, Nik's Glamour Glow added as a layer as well as Fractalius. I'm not sure this subject fits the nature theme of the site though it is beautifully crafted of wood. At least the top and neck are as the bowl is a composite synthetic material. I believe the top of the line Ovations now use carbon fiber for the soundboard.

Richard, this is a beautiful piece of handcrafted work and a wonderful image of it as well. I always liked the Ovation guitars for the rounded bowl, which gives them a deep rich sound. Love the sunburst finish. As you know, this can only be done with a single piece of wood. Good job with the portrait.

P.S. - no worries about the subject matter, it fits in fine here.

Beautiful image, Richard; I'm not a guitar aficionado, so I'm not familiar with the Ovation, but the rich warm tones...the curved lines drawing the eye upward and then back out....the straight lines of the strings drawing you back through...the circular cutouts as anchor points; all the trademarks of a strong photograph. If it were mine, I'd be tempted to give it a slightly steeper angle through the image, almost corner to corner, but that's a matter of taste. Well done!

Richard, the guitar must be beautiful in person. I love the rich wood tones against the dark background. I think John makes a good suggestions for an alternate composition also. Nicely done.

Nice image of something you'll use and cherish, always wanted to learn, ever since I heard Neil Young's "Harvest", so long ago. Unfortunately, I learned, I have no musical talent whatsoever, not even the triangle.......

Well done ...Very striking colors and shapes

Richard, The colors pop and the effect of the filter is subtle but still very engaging. Love the lines of the guitar and the way you framed this. Nicely done! Congrats too

Wonderful composition, Richard. I like the white outline of the guitar with dark bg and the shape it creates with the framing. The color just pops. Very nice work.

Thanks everyone, it's very much appreciated. Now if I can only make it sound as beautiful as all of you think it looks.

Thanks Jay. Hmmm, now you've given me another idea.... maybe I'll haul out my ole Ludwig snare drum and see what I can come up with.
