    Default Simple Pathway

I reworked this image and decided to try a few things with it. I will post an alternate view on my blog tomorrow but I wanted to get some feedback from you guys on this one. I used Nik Silver Efex for the conversion and applied the green photo filter in the program (which BTW I love), I applied Topaz Simplify BuzSim to the image and Nik's Tonal contrast to give it some added definition.

Denise, I love that you went black and white here and I think the compositional aspect is perfect. For me, the pathway and ground feels too light - like it's not well anchored - because of the overall lightness in that area. Have you tried darkening either some of the ground or perhaps the front area of the pathway near the bottom of the frame and then let it work into being lighter as it progresses? Just some thoughts...

Thanks Jules, I appreciate the comment. Another pair of eyes always help! This is as far as I want to go but I think it helped-thanks!

    Denise,

I like the second post the best with the darkened pathway. It has the look of an infrared shot. It feels like a path leading to something magical. :) Beautifully done.

Richard, Thank you so much, I've missed your creative talents here on BPN. I did feel that the image had an Infrared feel to it. Jules suggestion was great, thanks for stopping by.

I like em both, seeing as how the next theme is Chiaroscuro, , this image does rock in B & W, repost I can't really see any difference but my laptop screen quality lacks some...

Infrared for sure. I'm with Julie on the brightness of the path (that's why I like the repost better). I would even dare suggest a crop from the bottom....

Denise, I'm going to go a slightly different direction with my thoughts on the image...I agree with what others have stated, it has that beautiful infrared feel to it; it's an effective B&W conversion, and a strong composition. If it were mine, I might have left the path itself light...but done a 4-corner burn/vignette on the image to help keep the eye drawn into the center, letting the line(s) of the path and tree limbs do the rest...I agree with Artie's comment about a slight crop from the botom. I love the effect that BuzzSim had on the tree trunks...to be honest, I love the whole image...there's so much potential for multiple takes on this. A full color version, a version with some hints of color painted back in; even one with a crop from the top, down to where the wood of the limbs create a line a little more than 1/3 of the way down might be very effective (it looked good via browser crop to my eye)...it's an artistically diverse image! Nicely seen and well done.

Hi Denise, it is lovely. I prefer the repost. I absolutely love the infrared look you created with this one.

Denise, I love both of them but especially like the repost with the darker path. I love the IR look and the composition. It has a very magical feel to me

The repost definitely holds a stronger impact...and I was thinking maybe even a burnt edge at the bottom - just very slight - might also anchor it even more. It really has a nice IR effect to it!

I'm late. I like the RP. The fence on either side is very inviting, my favorite part of the image. Good work keeping details in the tree trunks.... Nicely done!

I looked at this earlier, Denise, but was on the run and didn't have time to comment. Really like this one a lot! It does have an infared look. Lovely composition and the softness and flow of the trees is very pleasing. Excellent work!
