    Default A Peek of Purple

I'm not sure about this image...I was looking for patterns in the leaves, loved the purple bloom almost hidden among them...loved the hints of yellow showing through from age and decay among the bright greens. Taken with the 100-400@275mm, f/11@1/25. RAW image processed in LR, some brown spots evicted in PS, then applied PB->OilPaint, followed by Topaz Clean and then Fractalius->Neon Light with that layer at an opacity of about 18%. As always, looking forward to your thoughts.

Hi John, love the effect on the leaves. The pruple blossom is a nice addition also. I think I would crop from the bottom to eliminate the small yellowish leaf left of center, but that's just me. Nice work!

Really nice use of multiple filters, yellow is easily cloned out...interesting artistic image, nice colors...I might also clone out the yellow stem intersecting the purple...but as Andrew said its just my opinion...TFS

Hi John, The diagonal stem in the ROT position is nice. I like that you included the curled leaf on the left side. I might clean up the frame on the bottom regarding the brighter pieces and I also think I'd evict that leaf that Andrew pointed out at the bottom-if it were mine. I also took the image into Nik and used the Glamour Glow filter on it. I like how the filter changed up the lighting a bit. I like this and the pattern. I also like the way uou filtered it. Images like this appeal to me.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions...I"m still debating if I like the image! Good suggestions...and I have an idea that would change this radically; I'll try it out and repost when I get back to my PC. Thanks again.

I'm going to work on a repost that will be closer to the original...but after reading the comments, and the more I looked at the OP, I decided to go in a different direction. I liked the complex strokes created in the leaves by PB, but it was also a complex pattern; I think what bothered me about it was that it was so complex the eye had nothing to really settle on...it was the photo equivalent of a bad music video, at least to me. SO...I went a different direction...reversed the order of things (applied Fractalius first, then Topaz Simplify) and left out PB all together. Did a QuickMask and painted the purple blooms back in. As always, suggestions and comments welcome.

Hi John, Hey, you gave up on this too quick! I like the OP filtering, there were some good suggestions. I think the original image has a lot going for it. The RP is entirely different filtering concept.

John, I think that they are both very nice. I do like this version but I agree w/ Jay the OP has a lot going for it too.

OK...I hear you loud and clear! ...back on track. Sometimes I get off track . I worked on the OP...did a bit of evicting, a bit of cloning, and a slight crop per Andrew's suggestion...and added the Glamor Glow that Denise suggested (good idea!).

I like it!..............nice work! The tips of some got a bit brighter (glamour glow does that), you may just want to tone them down. Great work with the recommendations in mind.
