Here's a recent image of a immature osprey, this is one of three offspring that the pair had, all have fleged about a month ago.
Nikon D300s 400mm f2.8 AF-I w/1.4 ext. iso 800 1/1600 @f7.0.induro tripod with a wimberley wh-200. Post, heavy cropping, adjusted in curves and some sharping. CC welcome
Good to see you posting again! Sounds like you had some fun watching this family.
Your bird is well exposed, but the IQ has been effected by the crop. I generally like poses with the wings up or down, tends to be more dramatic and show off more detail of the bird.
You are helped here by the fact that doesn't merge too much with rear wing.
A little tight on the comp for my tastes, I would add a little to the left and a bit more to the right, room to soar into.
Look forward to more.
Probably will cross paths at KBS. Still quiet there as far as migrants, but they should start coming through soon.
Ditto Randy. The bird's head is angled slightly away from us.... It needs more pop and color and a crop from the bottom.... I will try--be right back.

Did not work. Not sure why. The image that I saved was tiny, tiny, tiny. Best to save at 1024 wide optimized to <198 kb (working from your master file....)

Thanks everyone for all of the comments. I'll try to rework the image and see what I can do with it ( I really need to work on my photoshop skills I have no idea what I'm doing at times). The large crop I'm sure really hurts the IQ as well.
