    This Kingfisher or progeny shows up every year. He is a frustration to me as I can never get close. This photo was not good enough for a straight print, so I thought a simplified version might work...

    Nice painting effect, Mitch. The simplified kingfisher looks great! nice bg with the clouds. The reflection of the clouds with greenish-blue water is nice too. I might try to blend the horizon just a bit, if it were mine. Nicely done.

    Mitch, I know how frustrating these little ones can be. I haven't got a decent flight shot of a kingfisher. I think you did well getting him angled towards you. I'm not crazy about the wing position but with their speed I'm impressed you got him in the frame. Indranil makes a good suggestion. As presented I find the size somewhere between a flight shot and a scenic. Maybe a bit smaller on the bird and go for a scenic IMHO.

    I also agree very tough bird to catch in flight...good suggestions above...nice work
