"Dorsal View" Red-tailed Hawk
Juvenile Red-tailed Hawk

This was taken later in the day when I got the Cooper's Hawk shot that was posted yesterday. The light wasn't the most ideal but Red-tailed Hawks don't take flight until late in the morning when the winds begin to blow so they can soar the bluff. The light was shining almost directly overhead and slightly behind the bird.

Another beautiful dorsal view. Sharp with a perfect EXP. I think that you could open up the dark neck by burning at 10% on a separate layer.

hey Jim, I love the dorsal view. I suspect you had to raise the exposure in the head area since some noise came out given the ISO. the dorsal details are sharp and the bird is nicely placed in the frame against a nice BG!

Thanks for the comments I opened up the shawdows a bit more and ran some noise reduction on it. It's not perfect but I think it looks better. The full resolution file isn't blocked up so I do think with a bit more ps work it could be taken care of without a notice.
