Lesser Whitethroat
(Perdicula argoondah)
Great Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, INDIA
Jan 2, 2011, 10:36am
Taken with 1D Mark IV, 500 F/4, 2X TC
1/1250, f/8, ISO 640 @ 1000mm
This image was taken when i was waiting for the "Grey Hypocolius" (The only place to see in India to my knowledge and surprisingly they are so loyal to their place every year they come and feed on same place and stay there for their season) to come out of the bush for feeding early in the morning. Luckily the Whitethroat came and gave me two three shots in clean perch.
You might see 90% of my image with 2x tc as in my part of world reaching to bird without disturbance is really tuff and so i use 1000mm almost all the time with 1D Mk IV and it proved to be a great combo.
Pretty little bird, and I like the perch and comp. Nice light and good sharpness and HA. I find the light oof stalks in the BG to be a little distracting - I might consider toning down the patch above the bird. Very nice image.
fully agree with you ram. Its always good to have use the lens without TC but as we are living on a platform where birds hardly allow us to get descent frame have to use to atleast get descent records of birds :)
Hi Mital, I like how the leafy perch extends into the frame. The slight away head turn seems like an inquisitive stance, and just love the clear BG. It also compliments the bird nicely.
Sharpness look at least OK to me. Nice bird and pose. Maybe a Linear Burn on the throat.... Bill Dix is right: bummer about the o-o-f stalk right behind the bird. Thanks for sharing.
