During our winter's, these guys are a plenty at a local pond in Pretoria. They are pretty fast flyers, so its fun to practice your BIF skills, and hopefully capture a good flight pose. During this time, I also practised shooting in manual, as recommended by Doug ( Brown ) Added a bit of canvas on the right.

I love the wing position and the IQ in the feathers. I also like how you have shown off the russet on the back. A great BIF shot,
    Gail

Super duper details, light and wing position, Stu.
Was a bit of canvas added on the right?

Thanks Sid. Yes, I did add a bit of canvas. I processed this in July, so in all honesty, I dont remember doing it. I will now edit my introduction, and add it in. Thanks for pointing it out, as I can now see the bad job I did.

Not a bad job at all, Stu. I just stared at and studied this fine image long enough to notice :)

Hi Stuart, love photographing these guys, but have nothing as good as this. Nice light and lovely feather detail on the wing. I also like the richness of the colours you have brought out in the image.
