A small flock of juvenile Sanderlings arrived in the cove near our house in Maine this morning. Any comments will be appreciated. I also want to thank Arthur Morris for his wonderful book "Shorebirds: Beautiful Beachcombers". It arrived this morning also.

    Ken,

Nice shorebird, I too have the same book and it is good read. Not sure what camera body used, the image could be sharper in head area. Some like a catch light in the eye, easy to make as well. This is a challenging exposure with all the whites. I checked the image and they are in check for the most part and contain detail. Enjoy the head down position looking for food, nice behavior shot - well done.

Good job on this foraging shorebird. I think I would like to see a little more room in the front if you have it. The bird is just a little too centered for my taste. Good job on your exposure.

Hi Ken, nice work on this one - love the little peeps! Good exposure, whites are well-controlled and I like the warm color tone. I agree with Marina regarding the crop. I would just crop a bit from the right and clone out the debris under the tail. Love the foraging pose and feather detail.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. It is a tremendous help. I have made the changes and I agree it is a much better photo.
