Great colors, ike the compositions and the BG, maybe a small vertical rotation of the head toward us would improve the photo...

What a lovely image. This one to me is all about color. To my eye, even tho I do not like to crop too much, I would come in from the top to just above the red flower and in from both sides. That to me puts more emphasis on the bird. Love the hint of blue in the corner, and your fine quality and sharpness.

    Pieter:

    Lovely colors, sharp, well exposed.

I agree with Grace's assessment of the crop. It is a neat perch, but to emphasize the bird, crop in a bit.

    Neat garden you have there!

    Cheers

Cool shot with lovely colours, but agree with the comments by Grace about cropping from the top and the left. You say that you added canvas to the top. I am just wondering how you did this, as the plant extends all the way up?

It must be great to have a garden with such birds!

I would not crop at all, I like the whole plant and feel it would just "look cropped" if you did.
I would just tone down the BG on the right side of the birds head.
    Great colors.

Sweet image. Needs the midtones a bit darker IMO.

I like the image and crop as is. I find the right side bg a little bit of a bummer touching the bird. The colors and detail are great

No need to go tighter for me. I would actually add 1/4 inch of canvas to the top to give the tip of the plant a bit more room. Beautiful pose & flowers, and I love the bird's grip. Cleaning up the base of the bill is an option.

    AIA I love it!

Nice shot, nice colors. I agree about the HA, but it is still a winner anyway. TFS

Tack sharp Pieter, and I really like the iridescence on the sunbird. Overall, a nice setting with vibrant colours.

Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated. Had a look at the tighter crop suggested and it certainly works and provides another take on the image, I like both.

Ben I had to extend the leaf tips a little and add a sliver of BG.

Thank you Randy and Ben, we planted a lot of indigenous plants, trees and shrubs in the garden which are attractive to birds and have recorded over 100 different species over the years.
