Nice catch, the leg up gives him a nice look, I would prefer a lower angle, but you would probably would loose the reflexion...

Very nice pose with the raised foot and nice eye contact.
I too wish for a lower angle and a bit cleaner surrounding, but do appreciate the habitat.

Btw, I believe this is a Short Billed Dowitcher.

Nice detail and pose. I also like the soft reflection. Agree that this is not a Willet.

I like the reflection too. I would prefer the bird a bit more to the left though.
Also, on my monitor it looks a bit underexposed.

I think this is a Long-billed Dowitcher though. The supercilium is almost aligned with the bill.
On the short-billed, the supercilium has a steeper angle.
Here is an article on dowitcher identification:

Nice raised foot. Nice composition and REFL. 99.99% a winter adult short-billed. Long-billed are way bulkier and more pot-bellied than this bird.

Bird is over-sharpened and the image is too contrasty. As for the artistic merits of the BKGR, only a shorebird could love it.....

Nice capture with the raised foot. I agree with most, it's a short billed dowitcher.

Thanks Sidharth, Alan, Luis, Arthur, Herb, and Raul.

I am hopeless with bird ID! Thanks for setting me straight, and for your other comments.

    Arthur,

You are right, on consideration I pushed the internal contrast of the subject too high. The light was very flat, but I went to far.

    Thanks.

    Mitch
