    Default B&B (Bird and Branch)

Seeing Melissa's female Black-throated Blue Warbler a couple of days ago reminded me that I was able to grab a few shots of the newly arrived males last Spring at Rondeau Provincial Park in southern Ontario. Generally cool and wet weather had many of these migrants totally focussed on feeding and allowed fairly close approach. This one is nearly FF - just cropped a bit from the left to get the branch away from the corner of the frame. Lighting was very low and the bird was very active so I was pushing the limit of exposure and motion. All C&C welcome.

Amazing sharpness of this beautiful species. Stunning details and great composition. Love the background. The only wish may be to have more depth to see the right feet in focus. Overall beautifully done!!

This is a beautiful warbler and your image is outstanding. Incredible feather detail, sharpness, good HA and great OOF bkgd! Catching these birds at migration stops is a great way to go. As you said they are busy feeding and generally low enough to aim your camera at.

Love the feather detail. Nice portrait. If you do some noise reduction, you can easily push the 7D to ISO 800. I don't hesitate to go to 1600 if I need the shutter speed.

Yes, agree Jeff. This guy was constantly moving and the opportunity was such a fleeting moment I just didn't have the time to do anything but try to keep focus for the few seconds. Thanks!

Sharp, nice pose. Nice BKGR. Could wish for a bit thinner perch and more room all around. Nice light with a perfect head angle.

Wowza, Dan. What a stunner. Your shot and the bird. Beautiful details, sharpness, pose. I too only wish for slightly more room all around. But pretty much a perfect portrait of the male BTBW.
