I like the raised leg and the wake behind the bird. That being said, you are giving too much weight to that wake. It could easily be cut half way between the bird and the left hand side. This would allow you to move the bird back in the frame, thus placing more emphasis on it. It is a shame the bird is angled slightly away, as being angled slightly towards you would have made it more pleasing. The head area looks a little soft, but I will leave someone else too confirm that as I am on my laptop.

I am fine with the image design left and right and would actually have liked a bit more room below for the REFL. The big problem here is that the bird is angling away from you... A good luck back head turn could have saved you.

Mitch the movement of the water and foot as well as the reflection are really great . I think I would have liked it coming into the space rather than out of it but the water trail really makes the image special too. The head turn is unfortunate as i think it may have gone a little out of the dof too.

If I had lived a better life, the bird would have turned his head.

    Ben,

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. For me, this photo was all about the wake of the bird, and the early mornng light. I liked the design aspects. Yes, the head angle leaves a lot to be desired, and also may be a bit out of the field of focus (but not much).

    Thanks again.

    Thanks Cheryl,

I think the weakest aspect is the head angle. But sometimes you have to take what you can get...

It is always good to strive to lead a good life. The important thing (photographically) is that folks be aware of head angle and strive to press the shutter button when the head angle is ideal
