Default ***Immature Purple Gallinule in Sherbrooke, Quebec***

    Hello to all of you!

A VERY unusual visitor in Sherbrooke, Québec : an immature purple gallinule.

Maybe not the best light but I usually see this guy in Florida ...not in Quebec!

It is probably only the twelth time that this species is being seen in Quebec in many, many years.

Good find! There is not enough room in front of the bird for me.

Nice bird. I am not really familiar with this species so I will only comment on the composition. It would have been great if you could have taken the 1.4x off for this shot as the bird needs more space on every side. This is especially true to the right, which currently has the least space, but where the most space should be. Given the lily pads, I am not sure there is much you can do in terms of trying to extend the canvas, but you could always have a go.

Techs perfect and a sweet walking pose but why so tight??? I am betting that this is a big crop. Can you show us the full frame ORIG?

Yves - this is technically a great shot. It just needs more room all around, especially the right. But a very nice bird for Québec!

This is a full frame photo. In fact, I do have many other ones that are ok where the bird is sharp and less tight in the frame. In my work process, this one just stood out for its sharpness and the subtle colors of the bird. I just wanted to show the observation and did not think in terms of photo critics.

I do agree that it is too tight (even if I like to show/see all the bird in a close view : a personal taste).

    Thanks for your comments!
