    Want to ask the pros:

I made some images with the Mark III / Canon 500 4.0 and 2.0 x Canon Extender.

What do you think about the sharpnes? Is it possible to get sharper images with that combination?
The image I show here is no crop and not sharpened anyway.

    Made with f 8 / ISO 800 / 1/1250 sec

Would be happy to get your good advice....

    Thanx alot!

i've seen guys stack the canon 1.4x and 2x and get great results!! looks like the focal point of this image was on his back. those feathers look tack sharp to me. the eye is soft though. i use nikon gear but i know the canon TC's are awesome. alfred could tell you better than me.

    Hi Herold,
the problem with the Canon 2.0 x TC and the f 4 Lens is, that only the center AF point will work.
There is a problem with composing an image when you don't want to have the focus in the middle of the picture. That's why the feathers on the back are in focus, I think....

you could use the focus lock to focus on the eye, lock the focus and recompose the picture.

Hi Rosl This is not a good image to check for sharpness Get a newspaper and shoot !!! Will be easy to compare Do try the lens by itself then with a 1.4X and 2.0X You can make very sharp images Normally I shoot wide open but stopping down one will be better

Your bird does look sharp and its a very appealing image would take a little of the top only !!!!

    Rosl,

I think it is a lovely image! Wonderful colors. What Alfred said about the crop.

Rosi, I think you have a very good and sharp image here. Now this may sound old fashioned but why not try manual focus in these situations. I just find it easier to concentrate on the focus rather than which focus point to choose or trying to keep off centre comps in the AF zone.

As Alfred said a litle off the top of this image would make it perfect for me. Nice work.
