Too easy to bait these guys, they will take food out of your hands.

    Dan:

Subtle flash use, chip makes me chuckle, nice colors with some detail in background without being distracting.

Did you get any of him sans chip?

    Cheers

Nice background and I like how he's using his tail to balance on the perch. It is a humorous image with the chip and speaks to the nature of these birds. Post one without it, if you've got it.

Nice up close shot Dan. Background is a bit busy but not too distracting. Good detail in the bird. By the looks of the Balsam Fir buds this was taken in the spring or early summer when the birds are happy to find new kinds of food. Re-check your ID on this bird - it's a Gray Jay. They are equally willing to take from the hand of man .

Thank you Dan, I feel like an idiot, it is of course a Gray Jay (black markings on head), I saw both on this hike and just confused them. They do act similar.
This was taken yesterday (Sept. 10), just below timberline on Mt. Rainier, so it just looks like springtime elsewhere.
The Jay had just taken the chip from my wife's hand and landed on the Fir.
I have photos without a potato chip, I will most likely post one.

Dan, I thought the plumage looked a bit scruffy for a spring bird. I hope those buds get flushed out before the first frost hits!

This is so, so good that I invite you to post one here without the snack. Wonderful pose and setting but looks overall a bit dark from here....

Love the perch Dan, and he seems pretty chuffed with his chip. I too would like to an image without the chip. Maybe a little more room in the LLC.
