    Default Mirrored Flower

I posted the original image to Macro and Flora and then decided to play a bit. I extended the canvas to twice the original size horizontally..created a new layer, copied and pasted the original photo and then used Transfrom->Flip Horizontally. Lined up the two images, merged the layer, then copied the layer, flipped it vertically and used the Overlay blend mode. Cropped a bit from the left and right sides for composition. Not the type of thing I normally do, but wanting to test the waters a bit.

John, this is an interest effect. I especially like the darker lines radiating from the bottom petals. I orginally thought I'd like a tighter crop but I've changed my mind - I like the lines the the lower corners that bring your eye in an upward flow. Nice

John, Nice to see you getting your toes wet. I love the translucent look to this and the comp as Cheryl says the lines from the bottom add interest. Nicely done and I am looking forward to more.

I'm dizzy from reading the description of what you did but I do love the patterns and the colors.

Very creative abstact flower flip composition, John. Good for you for exploring new territory. Like the lines, symmetry, translucent layers, subtle color, and light glow to this. Great as is, but it might be fun to experiment and take this even further OOTB. I might be tempted to play with the hue/saturation/invert adjustments in PS, exploring different color possibilities. Just an idea, and looking forward to seeing more of your creations in this new territory.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

Denise, the water wasn't as cold as I expected......and it was your tutorial on mirroring that gave me the idea.

Artie, got a little dizzy myself...I got a little lost in the "doing" once or twice, but I have a stubborn streak once I approach something.

Brendan, good suggestions...as I start to explore purely abstract creations now and then, I'll be sure to do just that!

    Take care.

John, I like this much better than the version posted in the Macro forum. Wonderful lines and colors. I like the symmetry. I wonder if it would qualify for the theme?
