    Default The Watchful Eye

Went to a nearby lake specifically to photograph these Am White Pelicans in a group to work on designs, but they weren't cooperative. Imagine that? Therefore, changed my focus to individuals since the light was so stunning. Had some crop concerns but felt after trying several, that this one best depicted the subject matter. It was actually difficult for me to crop that virtual beak and the eye seemed to work best near the middle. What say you?

I think the crop works well Marina; the strong diagonal suits your subject nicely. I like your choice of aperture. I might go a little brighter overall.

Excellent crop choice Marina! These guys' bills are so long that looks like a well placed "virtual cut" rather than clip Good exposure, and the deep blue in the BG really works well to set off the yellow skin around the eye.

This is very well done! The light is stunning and the details and the flow of the feathers are great. The punk hair-do adds character!

    Hello Marina,

Simply explicit details and The exposure of the white is splendid. The crop is perfect and gives a sign of being cautiously at rest. In all a brilliant shot.

I like the contrast of the warm light on the bird with the cool color of the BKGRND.

Even tho the eye is rather centered here, it does not feel it to me as the strong diagonal from ulc to lrc is so compelling. A real pleasure to view, Marina.

That's a real beauty Marina. The crop works grea tand I really like all the lines and textures of the feathers as well as the colors. I love the intimacy the crop created with that amazing eye looking right at me.
