Well I hope I got the ID correct. At a tidal pool at a local beach. the pool seemed to attract the shore birds as the ocean was a bit rough.

Love the warm light...I would personally remove the bright spot below the backside of the bird. I can see noise in the BKGRND.

    Joe....

Not a lesser yellowlegs to my eyes. It looks much more like a pectoral sandpiper to me. Perhaps it's the light or the angle, but I photographed pectorals up close late last summer and Plymouth and they had legs as yellow as a yellow legs as well.

Agree with Jim on the ID. The LEYL are taller and more slender. You have absolutely gorgeous light here and a lovely pose. The environment works well with your subject. Noise already mentiond. What I find distracting is the object just behind the bird's rump.

Pectoral Sandpiper indeed! Yellowlegs' legs are twice as long and they don't have as neatly scallopped juvie plumage feathers. Also notice the large amount of orange on the bill.

Great head turn, good comp with a nice clean beach, but agree with Marina about the object in the BG, and I find the catchlight ratehr large.

    Beautiful light in this image
Believe it or not we had a Pectoral drop in UK and I saw it!

Nice lighting, great turn of the head. I also agree with Marina about the object at the rear. Good catch -- I've got lots of Yellowlegs, but would love to capture a Pectoral Sandpiper.

Nice one Joe, and an easy fix on the distraction. These are such beautiful birds and I really like your composition. The catchlight looks unnaturally large to me for some reason.
