    Default Butterfly with Texture +

Went to Bombay looking for wildlife and about all I could find were some butterflies.....so....i decided to work with some butterfly shots in processing. I overlaid a Flypaper texture and then used Topaz simplify Watercolor and curves...then painted back some detail in the bfly.

Beautiful composition, Bob. Love the watercolor look. The bg with texture is beautiful. I probably would increase the black point on the overall image just a bit to get contrast on the leaves. I might even evict the lower stem (stand alone below the bfly), if it were mine. Still, the image has a beautiful feel to it.. excellent processing.

Bob, I like the painterly feel to this...as well as the beautiful blend of color and light in the background. Indranil makes a good point about possibly evicting the stem furthest to the left; and if you do, I'd be tempted to crop some from the LHS as well. Great color and detail on the butterfly; if it were mine, I might evict the leaf that almost touches the antenna as well. Great job!

Very lovely watercolor effect! I like how the bkgd greens blend upwards into the blues of the sky. Beautiful pose on the Monarch, showing both antennae and the curled tongue. There is a tiny bit of gray showing between the back 2 legs that probably should be green and a speck of blue showing in the small triangle between the front legs.

Wonder effect and a lot to like about the image. I agree with Nancy about the two specks around the legs and would either blend in a little better or crop at the top to eliminate the distinct blue line across the top edge.

Bob, the watercolor effect is lovely and I the colors are beautiful. I agree with Nancy about the gray specks and maybe a crop from the left. Also, John makes a good point about removing part of the leaf that almost merges with the antenna.

Bob, This is lovely! The BF is terrific and so is the BG. You did a great job w/ the filtering. Nancy makes a good suggestion and I agree w/ evicting the left leaf (not curved stem). I'd tone down the light part of the stem in the middle just so your eye doesn't get drawn there. Very nice work!

Excellent image and processing. I love the effects and colors! Plenty of suggestions above. The butterfly seems to stand out a bit too much. Is there a way to have it blend in with the rest a bit more? But then, no one else raised this issue.

Like the crisp Monarch against the lovely BG. I have not seen any Monarchs up here yet (NY).
