Hope I got my ID correct for the theme but I assume a juvie Turnstone not yet in the orange color? We've had very little good light lately and even less luck with finding birds to shoot but I visited the Causeway this week camera on hand and got lucky with some shorebirds bathing. Light was more in front to the right but I did my best. I loved the movement here in the plumage. Adjusted light in PS, ligtened the catchlight area some rotated a tad and cropped about 30% off.I cropped from the bottom to eliminate a busy messy beach. Had to shoot from my car to get close enough so the angle is a little higher than I would have liked.

Hi Cheryl, interesting pose here. I like the blurred wings, sharp head and right leg on tippy toes. I am wondering about taking some off the top and leaving more on the bottom, if you have it. As far as the ID, sounds good to me. I do not know my shore birds well at all.

Cheryl, I like this different angle and pose too. Sharp where it counts, and although your reposts works better, I would try a vertical here. WDYT?

I like the composition of the repost but I have to confess I like both versions of brightness.

Like the repost more Cheryl... Like the pin sharp head and legs with blurred wings adding to the moment - a good shake down

Hey Stuart. Yes I did consider a vertical but with this lens I'm not finding a big crop pleasing in the end. The bird was too centered vertically to get away with it so I went with the horizontal

Cheryl, I like the crop of the 2nd posting and the brightness of the 1st posting. I find that the brightness of the white feather edgings nicely define some of the feathers in the ruffling motion. I also like the brighter whites contrasting with the grayness of the water. For me the bright whites makes the image pop.

Horizontal crop works well IMO, but perhaps a bit more from the left to a 5:4 ration would balance it better. I like the repost but I can see why you wanted to hide the stuff at bottom as it is not very pretty The higher vantage point from your vehicle gave you a great view of the back and rump for this pose!!
