Photographed this Black Skimmer satisfying his itch. They seem to exhibit this behavior quite often while flying which I always find comical.

    Marina:

I think skimmers are pretty comical looking at all times because of their unique bill, but this one takes it up a few notches!

Excellent exposure, very sharp on the face, very good eye detail for a skimmer, the horizon line is soft enough and the crop tight enough, that the placement of the horizon line isn't a problem for me.

    Cheers

Really nice action and timing here Marina. Wonderful "I'm in a scratch" carefree pose. Detail and light are good, love this image.

Excellent! I really like how the catch light in the eye, the red bill and scratching leg are all clustered together in the light, drawing your eye in. You certainly captured a fabulous pose.

This is great! Lovely pose and perfect exposure control! If anything maybe a bit more room on the right.

Awesome moment you've captured, Marina. Hard to believe the bird was actually traveling, you've frozen it so well, with startling clarity and great techs on every level. Never seen anything like this shot; truly special.

Sweet shot Marina. I love the colors and sharpness in this one. The slightly open beak and both feet visible adds to this one. Nice catchlight too.

A lesson on how images with character have wide appeal. The horizon line is a non-issue with me, but I do find a tad unfortunate the distinct shadow on the bill, and even that's not a big thing, and in any case something you couldn't do much about. Otherwise, all systems go.
