    Steve:

I like the purposeful striding pose, sharp, well exposed with perhaps a small hot area on the breast, nice color coordination. Nice low shooting angle too. Bet you got muddy on this one

    Cheers

The walking pose adds some interest here. I like the simple design, and all the techs and post-processing look good. I just wish for better plumage, but the worn look is what is out there many times.

Those orange legs really capture your attention and emphasize that the turnstone is stiding somewhere. Good DOF with no distractions in foreground or background, and lots of nice detail on the bird. I agree with Randy that you had a good bit on mud on you from this!

Really nice exposure and detail. I also like the low angle but the walking pose is what makes this more special for me.

Welcome Steve, and thanks a stack for your membership support. I like the striding pose and the bird place well back in the frame. Were you flat on the ground or seated or somewhere in between?

    Thanks for your comments.

I'm glad that this photo gives the impression that I was lying in the mud, but I have to admit that I'm not that committed to getting the shot. I was lying down alright, but on a quite dry shell bar. I was able to use the mound of shells as a bit of blind and used the shells to support the foot of my lens. As the tide came in the birds approached a bit closer. One of 'em dashed by within shooting range, giving me this opportunity.

YAW. Sounds as if you were up a bit. Getting lower (if possible and if willing :)) would have eliminated most of the lumpiness in the BKGR.
