An eagle on final approach to a herring, taken during one of the Homer IPTs in late March. We had lots of shots of the eagles with their talons extended, ready to grab a herring, but I didn't get many with usable reflections. This one came the closest. All C & C welcome.

Fantastic action pose, captured at just the right moment. But what I like most is the reflection, which really separates this shot from others that I've seen.

The reflection is indeed quite usable here!! Excellent pose and look of determination. Very dynamic.

Mike, I like this a lot compared to many others I have seen and as Steve stated, it is because of the reflection. Plus it doesn't hurt that the light was wonderful also!

Ah, one of the dime a dozen images :). Love the REFL: was this a vertical capture? Sharp with a perfect EXP. In an ideal world the near wing would have been fully raised and the fish would have been 1/2 inch to the left of the bird not a 1/2 inch to the right.... (The bird's head is turned slightly away from us.) All in all, quite excellent.

I just finished two posts on the next round of Homer IPTS, here and here. I'd love a comment from you either on the blog post or on the BPN post :)

Thanks for your comments, Artie. This was cropped from a horizontal image. On the final crop, I took a little off the top, leaving me with a final image that was 46% of the original. Still plenty of pixels left with the 7D!

Nice and sharp, the reflection definitely adds to this. Great exposure too.

This is a "wow" shot! The sharpness and exposure are fantastic. I would be thrilled to take a photo like this someday!
