    Snowy Owl from my recent trip to Ottawa. Not exactly sure how well I handled the whites with this one but found the intenseness in his eyes captivating.

    MKIII, EF 500mm, 1/2700, f/8, ISO 400, manual mode, hand held, baited.

    absolutely - u said it - the intense eyes...
    and the sharp, curved claws are also an add on.
    the whites seem fine on my monitor.

    i am a bit unsure about the composition though. dunno what but it lacks something...

    I agree about the eyes - and the feet look pretty intense too! I'd guess not too many critters see this pose and live to tell the tale. :) The whites look good on my monitor.

    Mike:

    I love the combination of stare and talons. If you have more image, I might be interested to see just a bit more wing, more of a square crop. Somehow the bird seems slightly disembodied, without a bit more wing showing. Just a thought. But, it is one powerful image as is.
