Thanks to Artie and John C. for the ID info!

    Sept. 7, Ft. DeSoto, Florida
    1D MkIII
    500 f/4 + 1.4x
    1/320 at f/10 set manually
    ISO 400

On this particular morning the light was diffused, but relatively bright, by a thin layer of clouds. I'm pleased with the softness and mood it lent the image.
I do note some fringing along the bill/background edge that appears no matter how conservative I am with sharpening. Perhaps simply an issue with JPG conversion?

PP in LR 3. Only a slight rotation with subsequent crop.

    Cheers and thanks for looking!

Love the high key look, the perfect EXP, and the sharpness. Pointing the lens down several inches would seem to have been the right was to go as there is some interesting stuff going on below the bird (but not much going on above). I make the same mistake very often even after 28 years of doing this.....

Terrific mood. good IQ, low angle, exp, sharpness and HA. Did you try a horizontal? I am thinking the foam/bubbles in the front of the bird would have nicely balanced the bird in horizontal comp.
