This morning this guy cruised along just above the mudflat with his "feet" tucked up, when they are usually stretched out behind (I think). I thought it was an interesting and a bit different pose (?). A crop, some NR and some sharpening applied. And I cloned out a very small bit of its wing under its throat. The light was pretty harsh, but i think my EV setting handled it OK (?) . . .

This is very sharp with really nice feather detail. The exposure looks great. I like the trailing water off the feet. This is quite a unique pose! Had he just pushed off, or was he getting ready to land? Odd.

Thanks Asta . . . I believe (but am not sure) that he had just pushed off and was in the middle of a rather short flight.

Wendell, love the shot, except the bird was flying away. You would have a winner if it was flying across or towards you. It sure is an unusual pose that we have seen most of the time.

Hi Wendell, nice capture and bonus points for the dangling feet! Excellent job to get the nice colors and sharpness in a flight shot. The crop seems a little tight to me, might open it up all around as this is a big bird. Taking off is definitely indicated by the trail of water behind the feet. Catching this big boy a little sooner (before he gets past you) will be a goal for you next time. Good capture and steady panning technique.

Wendell, nice sharpness, color feather detail and enjoy seeing the feet in this position. Agree with the others that a little different angle would put it over the top.

Very nice capture with wonderful detail. I agree about the angle but you can't control these things! Great timing!
