Came across this Rock Monitor in the Kruger Park and was able to position myself before it came up over the bank.
Taken a while ago with EOS30D and Sigma 170/500 f11@1/200 iso400 Cropped and removed some interfering grasses.
C&C most welcome.

Hi Pieter, your angle works well here, and nicely framed between the two tufts of grass. These guys certainly look prehistoric.
The low angle certainly adds heaps to this image Pieter...
I agree that it's nicely 'naturally' framed too.![]()
Very nice look into the lizard here Pieter! Showing the claw makes it for me!

Great low angle and detail with good natural colours![]()
Great low angle and I really like that eye contact.
My comments echo Stuart's to the tee. Neat shot.
All good comments above that I agree with. Critical focus appears to be on the claws and tip of nose just behind the eye which would be the preferred point of critical focus. I would try some additional selective sharpening in and around the eye.
I agree with all of the above comments including the suggestion for some additional sharpening. Interesting look at an animal we don't see often on here.
TFS,
Rachel
Thank you all for your comments and feedback, much appreciated. Will try some additional sharpening as suggested.
