    A juvenile

Not a common site here in the UK; around 1000 of these migrate through each year and always draw attention when they show.
Luckily I saw a small group out in front of the Reserve hide and although I anm not able to get low, I was able to take some nice frames.
this is a 100 crop as without the TC wasa little bit farther away than I would have like, though I have processed further back too.
Like the colours and blue water. I am very happy with the 7D and getting used to using it.

    7D 100-400 1/1250 ISO 400, Ev +1 f5.6
Av mode A1 Focus Min centre point Handheld
    hope you like

Real nice shot. Real nice detail. A lower angle would have been nice and the little plant coming out in front is a tad distracting. Other than well done.

Great bird. This one really suffers from the steep vantage point.... I once "photographed" one of these at JBWR in NYC while lying on the ground just 14 feet away only to find out later that the film was not winding.... EXP and SH good.

Richard, the IQ really held up nicely with the big crop. Great looking individual. I only wish you would have been able to get lower, but still a very nice document image.

Artie, I bet your heart felt like it went right up into your throat!! I think we all have stories like this but man, that must have hurt!!

Dan, Had done the exact same thing one year before with a juvie Buff-breasted in late afternoon post-thunderstorm light. The bird held a perfect wing stretch for one full minute while posing amidst blooming salt marsh flea bane. The irony of the two stories is that both occurred on Yom Kippur, the highest of high holy days in the Jewish religion..... I think that somebody was trying to tell me something.
