Sorry for the aweful picture. This was taken August 27 just south of Haines Alaska. I am totally stumped and out of my depth with coastal birds.

I am pretty sure that they are Sanderlings. What month?

You might consider juv red-necked phalaropes.
Although tough to see the bills look too short and thick to be phalaropes. I would go with Sanderling.
No way in ten million years. Juvie RNPH would be much darker above and show an obvious black mark through the eye.
