    Nikon D7000 w/Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens @ 300mm, hand held
    ISO 640, f/5.6, 1/400 sec, MM - 0.33
    PP: CS 5 levels, curves, SH, crop, sharpen.

    We walked one of our dogs today, wearing back packs loaded with our camera gear for an upcoming Antarctica trip. Upon returning to our driveway, we saw this owl on the ground near one of our conservation areas. Lucky to have my camera with me, I was delighted to capture this image of a remarkable bird, which took off shortly after the image was captured.

    Please provide your thoughts of this image.

    Surely one of the planets most beautiful creatures, what a fine shot
    maybe tighten up a little from left and top but only my pref. Thanks for posting this amazing bird

    Great find with the bird giving you a staredown a bonus. Consider a re-crop.

    Norm, loved the stare and the details. wishing for a better BG blur....but u were wide-open. I think it needs a little more room below and a tad can go from the top.
